Fire Hydrant explained

The fire hydrant is a water supply point that also serves as a reservoir, with the water remaining tapped during firefighting. You can place it within and outside of the mine, industrial areas, parking areas, buildings, and roadsides. Our fire hydrant system is meant to extinguish the fire by offering water instantaneously.

Installation Requirement For Fire Hydrants
  1. Unless otherwise specified by the Fire Chief, fire hydrants must be at least 50 feet away from buildings or other structures; a greater minimum distance is required for the safety of firefighters and fire trucks using the hydrant.
  2. Fire hydrants with mains supply that loop around the building or complex of buildings and link to another grid system are necessary to serve buildings with a required flow of 2,500 gallons per minute or greater.
  3. Hydrants may only be installed on one side of buildings with a required fire flow of less than 2,500 gallons per minute.
  4. The Fire Chief must approve the position of fire hydrants while taking utilities, topography, and building location into account.
